Organic Chemistry - Basic TestThe OAT, or Organic Chemistry Tutor First Derivative Test is one of the more difficult classes at Cal Poly. In order to understand the material presented here, you will need to have taken a Chem 300 class, as well as a Math class.The Organic Chemistry Derivative Test will test your understanding of the various laws governing chemical reactions. Unlike most other quizzes, which will only give you an answer if you get it right, this quiz will require that you understand the basics as well as some of the concepts to come up with an accurate score. If you can answer each question correctly, your score will be less likely to be affected by incorrect answers. The following is a review of the basics of the chemistry course that you should take in order to answer this OAT.The first element of the OAT is the Basic Exam, or B.E. This section of the OAT tests your knowledge of different elements of chemistry, such as elements, atoms, atomic weights, and atoms, comp ounds, mixtures, and reactions. The entire test is based on what you learned in this section. To prepare for this section, take a class that can help you learn about these elements, such as Physics, Organic Chemistry, or a different division of Chemistry. This will help you know which topics you will be covering in this section of the OAT and how to answer them.The second section of the OAT is the Derivative Test. This section is often called the derivative, because it involves using these elements, as well as some vocabulary from chemistry to figure out a reaction. If you understand these different elements, you will know exactly what to do when you need to figure out a specific reaction. This section is usually quite easy, especially if you know some chemistry. There are a few things that you should keep in mind, however, if you need help remembering these concepts. The first thing that you should remember is that the derivative test will not be completely true to how these concep ts will be presented in class. As a result, you may find yourself being asked to do something incorrectly. This is not a big deal, as long as you remember to ask your instructor for help and follow her instructions. If you find that you can't figure out a certain element, go to Google and find a good site that can help you. Sometimes they will give you hints that you need or even may tell you that you need to do something differently.The second part of the OAT that you should remember is that the derivatives of elements will not be completely true to how they will be presented in class. In fact, the explanation is going to be quite different. Just because it looks the same, doesn't mean that it is going to work the same way. You will find that there are some 'cheat sheets' that can help you make sure that you are learning how to use these elements in the most accurate way possible.Once you have finished all of the basic questions, you will get a summary. The summary will give you an idea of how well you have done but don't make the mistake of just memorizing these numbers. A few practice tests will also be a great way to make sure that you don't forget about the other questions.The last part of the OAT that you should remember is that you will get one or two written tests during the course of the course. These are not as hard as the others, but you still need to make sure that you understand them before you pass them. You can use either the online quizzes or a self-help book, but you really need to be able to answer these questions correctly.
